When asked about the name of the master horror is only one answer: Stephen King. From world-renowned horror novel, which no doubt there are elements of literature, science fiction, fairy tales and sensation, many of which, including "The Shining" and "Salem's Lot" went to the big screen. And although in his latest novel, "Master Hands", Stephen King is not especially surprising originality, it must be acknowledged that well from first to last pages of hair on the head reader hedgehogs.
Edgar Freemantle, a construction company owner, middle-aged man, in the case of one of the construction sites is the right hand. That, however, injuries do not end. Loses his memory, has a crushed hip, a broken right leg and ribs and damaged Broca field, thereby becoming a problem for him to formulate sentences. After leaving the hospital more often mitzvah attacks, uncontrolled outbursts of aggression and anger, which then can not remember. In addition to the passion leads him constantly itching cut hand - the so-called phantom pain. At the insistence of her psychiatrist, Xander Kamen, who gives him a rag doll, Rebbe - object on which Edgar could wreak their anger - our hero decides to change the environment, go to Minnesota and spend a year at one of the islands of the Gulf of Mexico, Duma Key. Rents a cozy house, which is called the Big Beads, then start at the beginning of a brief, and sometimes longer and longer walks the sea. Vortex meets, a man in his fifties, which immediately makes friends, and who takes care of Elizabeth Eastlake, an older woman has, the owner of the property and a larger part of the land on Duma Key. Since its arrival on the island, Edgar Freemantle suffers an internal compulsion to draw. At first they are only sketches of sunsets seen through the windows of the room "Florida", but sometimes drawings and paintings begin to reveal its mysterious power. The darkness of the past are beginning to reverberate previously unspoken sentences and emerge the contours of open cases. Stephen King with his own skill, tension builds well from the first sentence of the novel. And although the actual development of shares, you should wait a number of threads side - overall, irrelevant - they are the same, if not more chilling. "Master Hand" is, however, in spite of all the classic horror story with the traditional "spooks" - the young girls, as well as beings, which the reader actually has no right to expect - darkly smiling frogs and macabre, but cheerful jockey. King uses a great tool, which is language. At the climax of the novel sentences are short and cut off, which enhances the reader a sense of fear. And fear is what. Detailed descriptions of the drowned, their swollen, pale bodies, the stench of decomposing corpses strongly affect the reader's imagination. However, the novel plot, which in fact is quite predictable, and even macabre visions of Edgar-painter are unable to so frighten, if you do not join yet simple, but it stimulates the imagination of the language. Stephen King weaves in speeches of their characters into Mexico - language tragically deceased wife of one of the characters, colorful as well rather trite dialogue. The author does not avoid it from profanity, which is plenty in the novel. However, it does not offend too much, on the contrary, authenticates behavior heroes, their emotions - fear, horror or anger. The whole is good, acting on the imagination of horror. Schematic of the novel is typical. The characters, not knowing why, are involved in mysterious events taking place. Trying to uncover the truth, the price turns out to be very high. Tragedies taking place in their eyes many a man would destroy the will to live, but the characters feel the King on his shoulders the burden of the mission entrusted to them, which is the end of the fill. "Master Hand" read with bated breath. Unreal, invented by the author of the monsters leave their mark on the reader's subconscious. Perfectly described the images created by Edgar seem disturbing or even frightening. Stephen King's latest novel is certainly a professionally written "bogeyman" and fans of this genre in the near future probably will see a screen version of the book. |
